HPV is indeed transmitted by intercourse and men do have the virus. In fact in men it causes penile cancer, but the rates are much much less than cervical cancer. The vaccine is intended to be used in both sexes, and some would like it added to the pediatric vaccinations. However, the FDA would only approve it for use in women.

If they had developed or discovered a vaccine that would protect against HIV it would have been released. So far they have only discovered ways to suppress the virus. They aren't ignoring HIV, thats ignorant especially when you have no idea what goes into researching and developing drugs. Speaking of money politics, every drug co. would want to be the first to discover a vaccine against HIV.

Ill put it this way: If HIV wiped people out in 6 hours after infection like meningitis or malaria the virus would never existed. In the evolution process it probably and surly was an HIV version killing in 1 or 2 days but it dissapeared, its a natural selection.

Vaccination method is quite old and it counts on the human body to make it work. But the human body has limits, and those limits are also the vaccination limits. The vaccin tells something to your body but the body is unable to obbey. The treatment against these new types of virus will be of external kind in the future probably 50 years from now, I don`t think you`ll be able to see it.

I so agree with you Susan.
My daughter almost died due to the DPTP needles as an infant. I have had to fight like a maniac to have her attend public school.you look fab .my good friend Barb is a cancer survivor and was advised by her oncologist AND her GP to NOT use any bleach or chemical straighteners OR even hair colour of any kind, becuase they will compromise her immune system. perhaps you should consider going natural, grey or not, you are always beautiful!

I agree with u because thousands of types of HPV are in the world. This vaccine does not protect u against all of them. It is still kind of in a new phase, so I would not get the vaccine because 5-10 yrs bad s/e will be reported.

They don't have a way to measure HPV in men like they do in women. So the study done for the vaccine was only done on women, so the efficacy of the vaccine is only proven for women. That's why it's for girls. They are giving it to some boys, but the study demonstrating the vaccine's efficacy and safety was only on girls. Yes HPV is transmitted from men as well, but the greatest danger of HPV is only for women so it is quite logical to have the women choose to protect themselves.

I find it funny that with infertility on the rise that we are putting something into our something that is helping cause more infertility when they get older, and for what so we can say that our daughters are going to be sluts. What about just educating our sons and daughters to be safe and not have many partners. I was not educated, but I did educate myself about sex enough that I will never be in the situation of most of my friends. Think about it. Not in my daughters arms.

the four strains in the vaccine are responsible for 70% of cervical cancers and 90% of genital warts-- you have much better odds if you get the vaccine than if you don't. You are correct that the vaccine does not protect you completely from HPV, but it does protect you from most of the serious risks of HPV.

1)the vaccine doesn't affect fertility. 2) HPV can be transmitted even with the use of a condom. 3) you can get HPV even if you only have one partner and 4) Since there is no test for men, the only way to guarantee you do not get HPV is if neither you nor your one partner have ever had any sexual contact with anyone else and remain that way permanently. 5) 80% of sexually active women will contract HPV in their lifetime, so even with education and safety, the odds are against your daughters.

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is AIDS, not HIV:) HIV stands for: Human Immunodeficiency Virus and it is what causes AIDS. You can carry the HIV virus for years without developing AIDS, which is how seemingly healthy people have been able to spread it so much. Without medicines though, over 99% of HIV carriers develop AIDS eventually (sometimes after as long as 12 years) and that inevitably leads to an untimely death.
