Goodonyer Melanie2k9, I saw him live in Melbourne Australia, I think I was about 18/19 years old way back then, when he sang "SOMEWHERE" the audience clapped and cheered for ages, a magnificent voice.

Hi again, I saw Roy Orbison a few times at festival Hall and I remember once one of his guitarists got an electric shock and was jumping all over the stage until one of the others kicked the guitar out of his hands, he was taken to hospital but was ok,Roy was absolutely fantastis which I am sure you would agree. continued......

I saw Johny Cash at festival hall twice and also Neil Young, my first concert I attended was at the Palais where I saw The Rolling Stones, I will never forgrt Mic Jagger dressed in leopard skin trousers (fake skin I am sure)it all seems so long ago now, take care, Rabbie

Wow! What a concert to remember! The night I attended, in February 1967, some mongrel stole Roy's guitar after the concert. The compere was very tactful, saying he understood how Roy's fans wanted souvenirs....it was returned eventually. The supporting acts that night were The Yardbirds, and Johnny Young

I am green with envy! I never did see the Stones. Wagged school in 1965 to go to the airport, and got lost! Mick was soooo androgynously cute when he was young! He had the face of a lecherous angel.

I am not sure if you know or not but Eric Clapton was an origonal member of the Yardbirds, they were a great band, I saw Mic Jagger again in the 80's,the rest of the band were not with him but he had a at least 10/12 others backing him, great show.

Thanks- I hadn't known that. Yes, Mick is the ultimate showman- he gives 110% every time and shows no sign of slowing down, which is fantastic. I'm proud that he's half Aussie!

Just recalled- I think the Walker Brothers were also a supporting act for Roy that night. What a concert!! Roy got God knows how many standing ovations, and any Melburnian knows how rarely we give them! Saw him on every successive Aussie tour. I adored him and it broke my heart when he died, just as I was wondering if "Mystery Girl" was his finest effort... RIP, Big O. Yours was a tragic life in many ways, but you had the voice of a god.

GUESS WHAT, I never knew his mother was born in Australia, but you are certainly right, can't for the life of me figure out why I have never known that, was it a well known fact?, Rabbie.

Pretty well known, I think, but she moved to UK when she was reasonably young, so I suppose she became Pommified after a while :) Mick has rellos in Sydney whom he visits when touring here.

It just goes to show that one never stops learning, thank you for the info, I have seen a lot of interviews and a couple of documentories on Mick but I can't recall him speaking of his parents, anyway onto other singers, do you dig Neil Diamond or Bob Dylan and how about THE BAND ?
Neil Diamond does ... ( 4 days ago by coralarch)
Neil Diamond does nothing much for me, though I liked him with Streisand in "You don't bring me flowers". Dylan's "It Ain't Me, Babe" still thrills after 45 years, but a lot of his stuff leaves me cold. Where folk is concerned, I prefer PP & M. Or the great Alan Stivell. What part of Oz are you in?

NOW you are talking, Alan Stivell, Celtic harp, my sister-in-law plays the harp and I am right into Celtic music as my heritage is Celtic and I can speak reasonable Gaelic. I live about 70klms southeast of Melbourne in a small village on Westernport Bay, music and photography are my two main loves/hobbies.

My grandma spoke a little, but I never grasped it -the spelling is a nightmare, and that's even AFTER it was simplified !! Where are you/your ancestors from? Mine hailed from the Hebrides and Ulster. Alan Stivell = God. I am in Williamstown, a very trendy peninsula! I have a harp for sale.

I recently participated in a gene trail which showed that my ancesters came fron the Scandinavian area (probably vikings)they went to Ireland and then to the Scottish Highlands, my sister and I have traced our family back to the 1300's, we are members of Clan Fraser, you are of good stock with ancestors from The Hebrides, i have visited several of the islands and the beauty is overwhelming. A Williamstown trendy hey, I played a bit of football for Port Melbourne.
Port Melbourne??? ... ( 3 days ago by coralarch)
Port Melbourne??? Snort! Spit! Ptui! A pox and a plague on them!!! No true seagull can ever associate with those pariahs! :) I'm probably of Viking stock, too. My clan produced a few kings.Where did you learn ( gasp, moan, shudder) Gaelic?

I feel sorry for you as you must be tone deaf, how much of his music have you heard?
