Thank you, thank you Lawrence Milk and all your contented cows (Carnation Milk was his sponsor) for making Pat lip sync the only song he ever sang worth listening too years later. Great lyric, totally out of character Pat Boone, which may account for the reason this song revived his career briefly.

what is this song about? My friend and I disagree. I say that the girl was unfaithful to Boone and found out she was having the other guy's baby and drowned herself. My friend says that the girl was just unfaithful and felt so guilty she drowned herself.

This song blind-sighted me, honestly, it sounds relatively okay as far as his mood set in it is, I listened to it the first time when I was busy, when I relistened to the song my jaw dropped...the lyrics don't seem to go with the music, but I think that in itself is what makes it so beautiful ^_^! Much like the song "Running Bear", except that one actually sounds happy...

I know exactly what you mean, gazeemyth. The first time I heard it I thought nothing of it. A catchy little tune that I found myself whistling occasionally. When I listened to the actual words, though, it sank in deep. And I agree, I think the "mismatch" between the lyrics and the music adds to it, giving it a haunting beauty.

I first heard this song while working 3rd shift as a security guard, in 2003. I was guarding a construction site while sitting in my car. I found a local radio AM station, out of Ashland, Ohio, WNCO, which plays all these types of songs from this era( not 50's rock and roll)and I couldn't get the song out of my head. It brought tears to my eyes, and still does. No one could have done this better than Pat Boone. They don't make them like this any more. Thanks for posting this.

I believe people have been to hard over the years on Pat Boone. Yes this was one of his best recordings and one of his many #1s. Lawrence Welk also kept music going in the early 60's also. Great video. Thanks so much for it.
