ry. I was on the plane watching a DVD on my laptop. It had stopped because my computer had frozen. My HP was 6 years old and slower than molasses. I wanted a new Dell so badly, but I would never ask my parents for one. As much as they wanted to, they couldn't afford it. God, take me now. I won't liv
e through this camp anyway. I was so mad; I had never hated my parents so much. This summer was supposed to be me, Paris and Lewis. We had been on and off best friends for the past 7 years. We always spent the summers together at the movies and the pool. We would even occasionally take vacations to
gether. In the summer of 8th grade we all went on a Disney Cruise with our families. We had a blast. We didn't always get along but every summer we fell back to the place we belonged; together. Now we were being ripped apart. Each sent to different camps across the country. I went to California, Par
is went to Florida, and Lewis went to New York. This morning we said our goodbyes in the Kansas airport and then went to our gates. We each sat alone, on our cell phones, having a 3-way call. Eventually, my plane left, and then Paris's, then Lewis's. Pilot: Please turn off all electronics; we are l
anding in LA in less than 10 minutes. Aubrey: Great, off to camp no-fun. The girl sitting next to me laughed and turned to me. Leona: So you have to go to camp too? Aubrey: Yup, and I'm not looking forward to it. I'm Aubrey. Leona: I'm Leona, and I'm with you on that one. I love Kansas and I did not
want to leave. Aubrey: Exactly, all my friends are there! Leona: Same. But I think that might change, want to be friends? Aubrey: Yeah, it will be nice to have one here with me. Leona: I know what you mean. So what camp? Aubrey: Some camp that gives you voice lessons. My parents think I can sing. H
ow funny is that? Leona: *smiles* Mine too, they want me to be able to "express myself" through music. Aubrey: Well hey; we can make it through cam together. We got off the plane and went to pick up our luggage. A man was holding a sign that said "Camp Mi-rah-nee" and waving to us. He said he was t
old that two teenaged girls were coming off of our flight and figured we were them. We drove to camp and got out. A woman greeted us. Laney: Hi girls! I'm Laney, the camp director! Leona and Aubrey: Hello. Leona: I am Leona. Aubrey: I'm Aubrey. We're from Kansas. Laney: Yes, yes you are both in cabi
n 12. The cabins are not co-ed but there are pairs of cabins, a girl cabin is paired with a girl cabin. Girls are even boys are odd. Aubrey: So we are with cabin 11? Laney: Yup. Cabin 12 is just down that hill and to the right. You are some of the first people here but I think some of the boys are h
ere in cabin 11. Leona: Thanks Laney! We headed down to our cabin and picked out two top bunks that were facing each other. We unpacked and put on basketball shorts and sneaks and went out to start up a game. When we went back out to the basketball hoop outside our cabin there were two boys shooti
ng around. Aubrey: *smiles* Looks like a game of two on two is in order. Leona: I think you're right. We walked over to the two boys.
