patmyer1 you are a fool, pat can do traditional jazz with the best of them do your homework fool. have you ever heard his version of "Giant Steps" or "good bye pork pie hat" and countless others?.fusion is where his heart is, isnt that what music is about? playing what feels true to you?.I guess you would just prefer he play old standards note for note like a robot.he can do wes better then wes, no one can hold a candle to his technique plus he has great feel to go along with it.

no, you are thinking of how the original chess records guys an people like elvis stole the spotlight from the big bands and jazz and forever changed popular music. jazz was no longer the Hip thing for the mainstream. what other jazz musician besides metheny and mays can you think of that brought this music back to the masses.

lol...that patmyer guy is an idiot. Pat has studied the likes of Wes Montgomery for years...and this fool says Pat destroyed real jazz? I blame jazz extremists like Wynton Marsalis for wanting to institutionalize a form of music that was in bad need of change YEARS ago! Jazz is and will always be evolving to great heights. This is amazing! Pat just steams through the changes! He makes his own changes, e.g. 2:40-55 = shit hot. 3:00 is magical. patmyer1 ur a fuckin idiot, pat brought jazz back to the masses with travels and bright size life n all that, and why the fuck are you angry at fusion players???? Bitches brew made jazz accesible to the masses with its funky rocky grooves. Its people like elvis and chuck berry you should be angry at, for ensuring that jazz would never again be consdidered 'pop' music.

this is the first time ive heard this guy. Im not a very experienced jazz player/listener, but i love it. its so interesting. i must say id prefer some slower joe pass or george benson stuff but this guy is really good.
