It was written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934, and has become a standard ballad. Since 1934, the song has been recorded by many performers: Connee Boswell, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, Vaughn Monroe, Dean Martin, Frankie Laine & Michel Legrand, and Tony Bennett, with Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, and Django Reinhardt pitching in with the most famous jazz versions.

I agree. There are 1000s of fabulous guitar players but there's only one who can combine it with such a performance, entertainement and personality. Even if he's not the best I heart it's for sure the best I ever saw in my life.

Tommy Emmanuel completely re-defines what the term "guitar player" means... he has raised the bar for countless generations in the future... people are going to be looking at these videos long after Tommy, you, and me are in the dirt... and still marveling at the absolute mastery of his craft. And... another thing usually unsaid - Tommy is one helluva nice guy, often giving 3 day guitar seminars for people wanting to learn what it has taken him a lifetime to acheive. What a class act!

Yes, it's true. When you see Tommy for the first time you are awe stricken and frantically looking around for the accompanying player. But you sit and watch him for hours mesmerized by his sheer improvisational genius. I saw him in person and was very glad I did. He might tell the same corny jokes time and again, but he never plays a song the same way twice.
