I believe the soul nui9unit is referring to is the passion and commitment required to invent something - and to persevere even after a mind-boggling number of failures.. having the ability to invent is one thing, having the dedication to see to completion is another.

then the correct word to use is "commitment" or "dedication", not soul. You never say: " I did well in college because of soul", or "Due to soul I found my dream woman". Soul is either what we have inside of us that makes us what we are, or a type of music found in the south. In my view :o)

Ok so it's invalid! However, I do believe soul, in the context of music, "saved" a number of inventors, like George Washington Carver. You wouldn't know this, unless of course you asked Edison or Carver what their particular muscial interests were.
