"La cucaracha" was the lover of a very important officer of the mexican revolution, she was in charge and her nick comes from she been in the top of the train and getting her hair and her face all dirty because the smog... Marihuana is a drug yes, but is not just "Mexican" Please read... By the way, this is a popular song that talk about a woman who was figthing for love and having a fake escape of reality using this drug. Is a cultural song, not hip hop idiots!

La Cucaracha is a satirical-political song and it has had many versions along the years. It can be traced down to the time of the wars betwee christians and muslims in Spain, from where it was taken to America. This last version is from the Mexican Revolution and mentions marihuana as a reference to General Victoriano Huerta, the assasin of President Madero, who was famous for being an adict.
