Connery WAS Bond. This one doesn't have the wit, or the charm of any of the previous movies. The others didn't take things as seriously as he does. Even when they got betrayed, or were in a terrible situation.

I never doubted his acting. He's just not charming like Bond is supposed to be. I hate that people think that explosions and a six pack make a good spy. Grr.

true, explosions and six packs dont make a good spy, but if were talking reality, neither do any of the traits any of the bonds have. contrast any bond with a real spy, they are near opposites. i think the reason people like craig is because he is beleivable, when i look at his acting, when he fights, when he kills, when he is upset, you can beleive it, he is cold, when you kill ppl, unless your a phycho who enjoys it, you have to be cold, i think craig is the best bond, just my opinion tho

isnt that the point of the two james blonde movies, show how he became the bond we love. if you were in love, got betrayed and then your lover got killed, you might be mighty pissed too, i like craigs sublty, i have known army/spies/killers in real life, craig reflects them well, he is cold but troubled. i agree the others had something he doesnt, but at the same time, new audience new bond, he has something they dont... a certain reality, and a deep sense of fury, which i rekon bond would need.

I suppose I just prefer who he became. Someone who did what he needed to do and enjoyed the ride. He didn't enjoy killing, but he made sure to enjoy himself while he could. I know that the audience today wants explosions, muscles, and a really deep character with a lot of baggage. They just could have given him a freaking gadget.

yeh fair enough, alot of people do prefer him that way, i like him that way to, i just really thought craig took it in a different direction. lol everyone has brought that up, the lack of gadgets, i've been wondering about that. cos that was one of bonds big things but CR and QoS have very few. good chase scenes tho, personally i just like the way craig portrays bonds anger at his lovers death. bond doesnt strike me as a man accustom to such emotions, his confusion, i imagine, would be great.

I also miss Q and Moneypenny. And stuff in the old Bond movies. I actually liked the over the top villains. Yes, times they are a changing, but I can still miss the old days.

i miss them too, but arent these two movies with craig set before he met Q and moneypenny? go see the new one if you havent, i like it for its subtle story line, so many ppl said they didnt get the story line, some said their wasnt one, i got it, my gf got it, it wasnt hard to follow, you just have to approach it with an open mind and look for the subtlty. besides it shows a new bond, i think if craig is in another, it will be more like the old ones, he has done his hardcore bit now.

Well you have to remeber that Casino Royale was technically the first Bond. Not in terms of movies, but it was the first book. There was no Q then.

They said that Q and Moneypenny would not be added unless they brought something to the story. Which sucks. If they gave Bond gadgets, Q would be useful. And Moneypenny...well, SOMEONE has to love Bond without being betraying him.

well thats a bummer, i liked them both. but i dont suppose they can add anything new to the craig vids as they are set before all the others, so its not like they could make something of bond and moneypenny's relationship coz it would conflict with what is already known. and remember q would probs have to be younger, so it wouldnt be the same actor we all love. they could have added them tho, just for us. maybe they will make another and it will be the latest in the timeline, that would be good!

One of things I really like about these new Bonds is that their is less reliance on gizmos and gadgets. This is a raw Bond. If Roger Moore had to rely on his physical abilities he would have had his ass kicked everytime.

Craig has absolutely no charm or charisma. That too can be considered a gadget. That only Sean Connery managed to pull off effectively! ...Sean Connery was no lackey in the physical department either. Having been a footballer, truck driver and weight lifter along with his equestrian prowess! Craig w/o the Connery Charisma relies too heavily on his brawn and flawless scripting that revolves around action over Charm & the True Bond Air of Mystique!

Just to add, notice that at the end of this clip, it's Sean Connery's voice that still delivers the most effective, "Bond....James Bond" ...EVER! It's Sean Connery who is still the one who comes to mind when we hear that phrase, even today!!! ....he just owns it like no other!!!

Still, in the Bond movies, the gadgets play a big part. This whole "raw Bond" thing goes back to his not having any charm. I hope that once they get his angst out, they'll bring back the fun that made Bond movies great.

Yeah, but charisma and charm are made up with intense action scenes and good acting, these last 2 movies imo are better than with Peirce Brosnan.

@jeanbanahn Daniel is enigmatic not charismatic!!! Let's just put it this way; if it had been Daniel Craig (transported back in time) on his first real acting gig (like Connery) playing James Bond in Dr. No, do you actually think we'd be still watching James Bond flicks today??? Sorry, but Daniel has none of the real Charisma or distinctive personal qualities Sean Connery brought to the screen and very few actors have ever had them to the degree Connery brought to Agent 007 Bond!
