If you search for ..excerpt from the Last Night of the Proms part 5 .. you will see a later version of this from the Proms 2006. Many of the choir members are the same but a little older.Belfast comes in after 5 mins or so.

The two men were father and son, so get yer mind out of the gutter.... the son is leaving Ireland to find work, but the father must stay behind. Presumably, the son is going to America, even though both he and his father know that they will probably never see each other again. It happened. A beautiful song based in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. If money were no object, I'd rather live there than here, plus I have relatives still over there and I miss them all.
