Oh, I don't think you understand what the pork is in the bill for. The excess pork isn't there to "help" the economy, its there to get the members of congress to change their vote. So, yes, apparently the pork did do exactly what it was meant to do. Get Unmoral Congress Whores to change their vote. That's why the bill passed the second time, and not the first.

Well at least Ron Paul knows the economy, too bad he carries only one vote and not enough people take him seriously... I am ashamed of our congress for including all of this pork into a bill that shouldn't have been passed in the first place... I think that saying that he could have allowed us to "avoid the fall" is putting too much faith in one man. Rather I would say that he was the only canditate who saw the fall comming and was willing to "brace for impact" as it were. With Ron, the US could have landed on its feet, a little sore and worse for wear but able to heal. Instead its plunging head first.
