But keep in mind he was an Atheist at the time he wrote this, and when he performed it live he said "This is a love song" everything he's talking about is in metaphor. The Gates of Eden are his lover's arms. That's why i don't like this video, too many literal interpretations of abstract metaphors.

It'd blow too many minds, that's why they wouldn't play it man! Maybe if there was a 1 second shot of some girls mud wrestling...it'd have a chance....it wouldn't make any sense in the video but that's what in now. Maybe at the part where he sings, "all and all can only fall", that's when a girl could call naked into mud...you know? We could say Soulja Boy produced it. Great video man...thanks for posting this gem.

It's one of his surreal songs. And by his own admission he doesn't know what all his lyrics mean. The work flows through him and out of him. He is not censoring or questioning anything. A lot depends also on alliteration, on how the words sound and where the syllables are stressed etc. This is great poetry. One thing about art is that sometimes you can 'get' something, be moved and inspired without understanding it or being able to articulate it. That would be a right brain experience.
